Acute Therapies
Plasma Exchange
Therapeutic plasma exchange or plasmapheresis is a procedure that aims to treat rheumatic disease. Types of rheumatic disease (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and vasculitis) occur due to abnormal antibodies that affect various parts of the body. By removing these types of antibodies from the individual's blood, we can help treat symptoms of the disease.
Plasma exchange is a form of treatment that involves extracting blood from the patient and placing it into a machine, which carefully divides it into platelets, white cells, red cells, and plasma. The plasma, which is the liquid content of blood, is then substituted with donor fluid. The blood cells and replacement plasma are then returned to the patient. The patient's plasma contains antibodies responsible for autoimmune illnesses, so by removing this, we can help with treatment.

Our VISION
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy
Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a 24-hour, persistent dialysis treatment that assists with excess fluid accumulation and acute kidney injuries. CRRT is usually requested when the patient develops swelling or puffiness or their blood test results indicate an accumulation of toxic waste in the blood. These symptoms often indicate a severe form of acute kidney injury that requires immediate and continuous treatment.
CRRT provides some of the functions the kidneys are responsible for. It carefully filters and detoxifies the patient's blood by removing a surplus of fluid and waste. It also maintains a healthy balance of important chemicals and electrolytes.
Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis
Sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED) is a combination of sporadic haemodialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy. It is performed using conventional haemodialysis technology over a long period. This form of therapy enables the slow removal of fluid, particularly for those with acute kidney injuries, which cause an immediate decrease in kidney function due to dysregulation and an imbalance of fluid.
Acute Haemodialysis
Acute haemodialysis is a treatment for acute kidney failure, a condition that occurs due to an unexpected decline in kidney function. This is a life-supporting form of therapy to assist those with malfunctioning kidneys. Depending on the severity of the condition, treatment may only be temporary until the kidneys recover completely.
